"Our topic for today is how to attend a funeral. As with many folks, attending a funeral is a very difficult time, ah something that that I would say we probably dread or don't enjoy doing. Attending a funeral can be very important. The purpose of attending a funeral is being there, not necessarily for the deceased, but for the family that's left behind, being there as a support for that family. Attending a funeral means just showing up. Some manner of time, fifteen minutes to thirty minutes prior to the funeral service beginning and go to the family, sign the register book, go to the family and just show your respects and just let them know that "hey, I'm here, and that I care." Just say "hey, is there anything I can do? I'm so sorry. If there's something I can do, please let me know." There's not the right thing or the wrong thing to say, it's the fact that you show up and that you care. That's what matters most to that family. Once you get the opportunity to pay your respects to the deceased, and talk to the family members and other friends that might be there, then you would leave and go over to the funeral service or where the chapel is located, and and ah, find a seat and wait 'til the funeral service begins."
