Building a Deck: Rail Installation

I like the beginning where he says the 4x4 is nice and sturdy, then he proceeds to rock it back and forth, doesn't look too sturdy to me.

Yes, this is the railing installation. What we've done is, we have our 4 by 4 that are lagged into the facial boards, so they're nice and sturdy, then you have a post sleeve, it just drops over it, have a bottom and then a top cap, and this is your railing with your spindles or your balusters, like go into the squares to keep it off the deck. You have 4/2 inch pieces of your balusters that you put in, and you just go along and stick them on this particular material into the bottom, which is very nice. some of the railings you have to use screws and figure out everything, but this is all pre- done, this is a nice composite decking, yeah, there we go. And make sure you don't step back too far. This particular one has a metal railing inside of it to keep it sturdier. This can be a little tricky, but you learn how to do it. Just stick your balusters into the top hole.
