"Hi, this Evan at Gregg's Green Lake Cycles. I wanted to talk with you a little bit about a rack for your bicycle. There are a couple different styles of racks. Many bikes that have a disc brake here would need or require a certain special type of rack that would have a special mounting bracket that came out a little bit and down. So the first thing that you would want to decide is what type of bike you have and what type of rack would be compatible with it. Then you would also want to check on your bicycle to make sure that you have the approp, the appropriate mounting brackets both on the seat stays and on the chain stays or down here at the drop outs. You want to make sure that you have those, that you can bolt the rack to the bike and have it be stable and safe. Make sure that your load isn't going to fall off. The first thing that you want to do is attach it down here at the bottom. And then there are some stays here on the top that slide out and down to attach here at the seat stays and that's kind of just a stabilizer so that the rack doesn't move. Many racks are adjustable up and down and they're also adjustable in and out. And that's good for carrying bags so that you can make sure that when you're peddling that your foot isn't going to come too far back and hit any penures or bags or any of your load that's hanging down off the side. You also want to be sure that after you've installed the rack that it doesn't interfere with any cables here or derailer cables on the drive side of the bicycle. You also want to insure that nothing is going to be able to stick into your wheel and hit your spokes. Make sure that it's all safe and after you've installed the rack, go through one more time before you take it out and ride it and make sure that all the bolts are greased and installed properly and tight and torqued to the proper specifications. And that is how you would install a rack on a bicycle."
