"Hello, my name is Eric White. Today we're going to talk about how to make BitTorrent's download faster. So the number one rule, the absolute number one rule, is don't be a leech. Make sure that you're putting out enough bandwidth to equal what you're getting in. Now no, that's a, no one's going to use a hundred percent of their upload to share. You know, their more worried about getting their file so they can watch it. So I would set your uploads to a minimum of maybe twenty percent. That's probably a good rule of thumb. No less than twenty percent. That's going to insure that other clients share to you. There are a lot of servers that serve out based on your share ratio. So if you're sharing real low, you're downloads are going to be real slow. Also, try and limit the number of BitTorrent's that you're doing at a time or the Torrent files that you're doing at a time. You only have a finite amount of bandwidth. So, you know, you don't want to use eighty, ninety percent of your bandwidth in your downloads and then, that leaves you with ten percent your uploads and then if you want to check your e-mail, you can't because you're pounding your network during these downloads. So remember don't be a leech, upload twenty percent, at least, and that, you know, leave your BitTorrent's running, you know? Let 'em go. Get, get a good one ore two, one to one ratio. Share out the file completely that you've downloaded. That helps other people be more willing to share and up their upload. And that's pretty much all there is to it. The other thing is some clients use different port ranges and if you're behind a firewall, you may have to forward those ports to your BitTorrent machine, and the packets will flow a little bit quicker and you'll get better performance that way as well. So see your client website and check on the ports. A lot of the client websites will also have performance enhancing features. They'll tell you what to do and what to not do. But remember, don't be a leech."
