"You just moved to a new town and the last thing you're thinking about is your car insurance. My name is James Burrows with The Resurgence Group, we're a full service insurance agency and we specialize in auto insurance. Today we're talking about if you move to a different town and you have a different zipcode, how's it going to affect my car insurance? Well, believe it or not, different towns, different states, all have different ways of calculating their premiums. You know, there's some good neighborhoods and maybe sometimes there aren't as good neighborhoods. Cars are really stolen in very specific zipcodes, and that's the challenge when it comes to how you calculate your premiums. So when you move, the first thing you have to do, you actually have thirty days, is to call your insurance agent or call that carrier and tell them the zipcode and the address that you moved to and they're going to recalculate your premiums. Sometimes it advantageous because it, you know, you're going to get a discount, other times you're going to pay a bit of a premium. Either way you want to make sure that you're properly insured because the last thing you want to be doing is paying premiums and then find out after an accident you don't have the right coverage because of something as simple as you did not have the authorization to have that vehicle in that zipcode on a permanent basis. If you were traveling it would be no problem, but if you're living somewhere else other than where it says that vehicle is registered, then they're probably going to decline that claim. My name is James with The Resurgence Group, we specialize in auto insurance and the one thing that we recommend is if you're confused about insurance just go to your local agent, sit down with them, explain what it is that you're trying to accomplish and they'd be happy to help you."
