High-definition television, or HDTV, is a digital television broadcasting system with greater resolution than traditional television systems. HDTV is digitally broadcast because digital television requires less bandwidth, if sufficient video compression is used. HDTV technology was introduced in the United States in the 1990s by the Digital HDTV Grand Alliance, a group of television companies, and MIT. While HDTV is an exciting new option for television buyers, it's far from the only choice facing consumers. Plasma screen or digital light projection screen? 30-inch screen or a screen large enough to cover an entire wall? In this free video series, a digital electronics specialist provides tips on buying TVs, connecting TVs to other electronics and using devices like DVD players and HDTV. Discover how to get the best quality picture out of an HDTV, how to connect a DVD player to a TV and how to record from DVR to DVD. "Rokosz, your digital life style expert here with ya. I'm going to show you how to clean your flat screen TV. Now, very important that you keep it clean because as different things accumulate on it like dust or just oils or as you can see I've got fingerprints up on mine. They can build up over time and attract things that make it much more difficult to clean and then degrigate your picture quality. That sort of negates the whole purpose of having a awesome flat screen or HD monitor. Now cleaning your flat screen TV is similar to cleaning the soft screen on your lap top or your flat computer monitor. Some of the solvents of the chemicals that they recommend for those you can use on it. But I would use as very little as possible and this is my personal recommendation. A soft cloth. A lot times, something that your sun glasses come with or use for camera lenses, just a soft lintless cloth can do a lot of it. I'm going to show you here. What you do is just a lot of circular motions and you can see over time our studio monitor here has a lot of finger prints because she definitely gets used and you can see as I make circular motions it can go from filthy to clean. It doesn't take a lot of time or a lot of strength. You turn it around so you can get a fresh thing over there. That way your not putting any chemicals your unsure about because the last thing you want to do is choose the wrong thing and put it on to your beautiful television set. Now, obviously the plastic part up here is pretty much plastic so things that are used to clean plastic would be OK but what you want to worry about there is over spray. So something that is really good for plastic, it's kind of like using Armour All in your car. If you use Armour All to clean your dash board and you over spray on your windshield it's a nightmare. Armour All is not meant for windshields. At least the ones the interior dashboards are. So I tend not to use anything there. Now, the screen itself, you can use the same technique. Now it's much more difficult to see obviously because we got a picture up here on the screen and tapping it is not a good idea in general either. But that will get your dust off of it. Also the rags that are statically charges, your Swiffers and things like that, if it is just mostly dust become nice because your not putting anything on there. But if it is really time for a deep clean a good lintless cloth preferably or paper towels if there is nothing else And just a bit, and I mean a bit of hot water or warm water rather just luke warm water. Now even there I am going to squeeze it out so my rag is just moist and I'm going to give it line up in the top here and then I'm either going to turn it over and again the same circles. Just be careful, it's an expensive tool. A great asset and just a little bit of things and your going to have a beautifully clean monitor.
