"Redness could be a sign of something major, so if it's accompanied with heat and oozing you need to see a doctor right away. I'm Lauren Ray for Sugar Hollow Farm in Phillipston, Mass. Redness can be caused from anything from an irritation to the skin or a bruise, what it really means is that there's a lot of red blood cells to that area that's trying to bring healing to it. But if it's accompanied with heat or any other signs of infection, you really want to see a physician or a health care specialist. But if you have redness due to maybe a bump, you could take an ice pack and just wrap it in a cloth so it's not so cold next to your skin and apply it to the area for a couple of minutes. If you have redness due to a sunburn, you can use aloe vera and apply that and that will help decrease the redness there. If you have redness from say a bug bite you could use something to dry out the toxins and then apply a little ice that will also help reduce the itchiness and the redness in that as well. If you have redness in your eyes you can use a little normal saline or you could also use a potato, you can cut the potato in half and just lay a slice of it right across your eye and that will help reduce the redness in your eye. This is Lauren Roy, Sugar Hollow Farm in Phillipston, Mass."
