Series Summary

"Do you have a MySpace?" It seems like everybody has plunged into the nation's third-largest website. It is becoming increasingly hard to hear someone answer "no" to this question. From its creation in 2003, this social networking site has created more than 100 million accounts all over the world, and each of these users has the option of uniquely creating personalized pages. Individuals can find jobs, international friends or pizza on MySpace. Musicians have already tapped into the promotional world of MySpace. Whether the band is big or small, there is a very good chance that one can find them on the site. MySpace has even taken dating to a whole new level. Amazingly, the website is still growing. MySpace opens an average 230,000 new accounts daily! However, for some that may lack the computer know-how, this site may seem a little daunting to start. Fortunately, some MySpace users are more than happy to share their knowledge. In this free series of videos, learn how to set up and spice up a MySpace page that people will flock to daily. A professional MySpace designer explains how to get started on MySpace, flirt with a girl, get more traffic to a MySpace page and upload a video. Next, he discusses how to delete a MySpace account, leave voice commands, know if friends are online and post images on comments. Finally, learn how to hide a MySpace music player, change the colors of the boxes on a MySpace page and change the font color in a MySpace blog.

"How is it going, I'm Jason Ketchmark from MySpace for Musicians and I'm just going to give you a little bit of overview of how MySpace works for the music community. Now as you've probably already seen, almost every band has a MySpace music page and if you have a band, you're definitely going to want to get one if you don't already have a MySpace music page. First things first, you want to get a MySpace page. If you don't already have one, it's very easy to sign up, and there's one thing to take into consideration, that when you go to MySpace and you click sign up, it automatically thinks you're going to make a personal MySpace page. But you don't want that, you want a music MySpace page so you could upload your songs. So go ahead and click sign up, but then on the right side make sure you click musicians. Put in your email, put in your password, put in your band name, pick your band genre for your music. You could do a couple different things. You're going to want to make sure that you first start with uploading photos, videos and music. 'Cause this is what people are going to go to the page to see, and whether you have a new song that comes out or a new music video that comes out, this is where is you're going to start adding friends. And you know, the best way is if you're a band in Washington, you're going to probably want to add friends in Washington. Or you know, other places as well but the nice thing is lo friends that are local, so when you play down the street at Moe's Tavern, you send out a message to them and they're going to be able to attend it. You know, obviously someone in Alaska is probably not going to come to your show if you live in Washington. So that's something to definitely keep in mind unless you're doing a larger tour. But definitely start with adding friends that are local first and then move on you know friends everywhere, 'cause that's the plan right, to get out there. Once you add your friends this is where you got to keep on top of things. Your band, people want to hear updates, just like you see you know, your lager bands, your favorite bands on MTV and they're releasing songs and they're going on TRL and all these other things, do the same thing with MySpace. You could post bulletins and you could put status up, and even change your profile consistently so people get kind of the hang of what's going on with things. So post a bulletin, say, hey guys, make sure you check out our new CD and make sure you check out you know, our show on Thursday night. And make sure you also have information on your MySpace page, and add the show to your calendar can, you know, go to your show and get details about it. It's a great marketing tool. There's many options that you could do. Pretty much, you know, it starts from adding music and photos and videos, to customizing your page, adding friends, and from there, who knows what will happen, maybe you're the next Tila Tequila, I don't know. But making a MySpace page for music is a must-have. It's very quick, very easy, and that's all there is to it. I'm Jason Ketchmark from MySpace for Musicians. If you want a more customized MySpace profile go to MySpace4Musicians.com. That's MySpace, the number four, musicians.com, and we'll take care of you. Thank you."
