"How to avoid headaches from red wine. The first you really should consider when drinking wine, in order to avoid headaches, is the quantity and the alcohol. There are just two aspects of the causes of red wine. The more alcohol that's in the wine the more dehydrated you will get after drinking the wine, and the more likely it is you will get a headache. So choose wines with a lower alcoholic content for the same volume. If you drink two glasses normally, if you drink a 12% volume rather than a 14% volume you're less likely to get a headache. If you drink a lot of red wine, half a bottle to a full bottle with no food, there's more of a chance that you absorb alcohol quite quickly - and probably more of a chance that you may get a headache. The rules really for avoiding headache with wine are to drink lots of water with your red wine, lots of water after drinking and maybe to have your red wine with food and to limit the amount of red wine you use. Also, lighter red wines are less susceptible to causing headaches. The better the quality of wine the less additives in there that may be harmful and may cause headaches. Choose a good wine. Drink in moderation. Drink lots of water. Combine your wine with food and your likely to have a good evening with no headaches the next day. That's how you drink wine to avoid headache."
