In cooking, stuffing is usually a mixture of various ingredients used to fill a cavity in another food item. Basically, any food that won't liquefy is suitable as stuffing. Many popular stuffing recipes contain bread or cereals, usually together with vegetables, herbs, spices, and eggs. Other stuffing's may contain only vegetables and herbs. The term stuffing also refers to the process of filling a food cavity with this mixture. In this free video series, a professional chef demonstrates how prepare stuffed tomatoes. He discusses which kinds of tomatoes to buy, what utensils to use and how to season the stuffing. Follow along as the chef chops basil, shreds zucchini and mixes breadcrumbs with Parmesan cheese to create a delicious crust. "Hi, this is Rich Buccola here in New York City and today, on behalf of Expert Village, I'm going to show you how to stuff a tomato. Okay, we're going to do stuffed tomatoes today. This was one of my grandmother's things that she would do on Sunday. We would come over, watch football with my grandfather, my uncle, who was crazy with football, still is, we all are. But anyway, stuffed tomatoes, it's real fast and it's easy. But, it's real nice, because we put a little ricotta cheese and we saut? some garlic, some onions. I'm going to show you how to put the whole thing together, how inexpensive it is. It's a great snack. This is what this is, it's a stuffed tomato, it's a snack. And it's something,you know, do with the kids and watch on Friday night movies with them so you know where they are. You can get them involved with this meal. This is a fun meal for the family, a fun snack for the family. I' going to talk about ingredients. I'm going to talk about hardware to make it, how to serve it. What else? How different variations on how to cook it. How to get good tomatoes like these. Look at how beautiful these tomatoes are and it's December here in New York City. So, when I come back, join me.
