"How to ask for money for a wedding gift. That's got to be one of the most difficult things to do when you're looking to get married. My name is Blake Kennedy, and I'm with Kennedy Brothers Estate Services. When you're asking for money for a wedding gift, you've got to ask yourself, how can I do this without anyone thinking I'm being rude? Because most people want to get you that traditional gift for your wedding present. But what you need to do is you need to only register with one store, and make that registry short. Put on the things that you really, really do need. But there's going to be a lot of people that are going to be going to that list, and once that list is filled up, they're going to be making phone calls and wondering: the list is filled up, what can I get this person for a wedding present. Who are they going to call? They're going to call the family, the relatives, the friends that are in the wedding party, and ask, "Hey, there's nothing else on the list. What can I get that person?" Well they're already going to know that what you need is money. So they're going to put it in a nice, tactful way that, hey, what they really like is money. They're looking to save up for this beautiful honeymoon that they're going on. And they're also looking to save up for that first house. So everybody knows that's an expensive thing and that they need help with that. So that's a great way to put it is put it back on the family and relatives. And they're going to help you out with that by trying to ask for money for a wedding present. Good luck with that. I'm Blake Kennedy."
