"Hi, I'm James Dix from Reptile Rescue Service in Salt Lake City, and we're talking about how to take care of land turtles, and desert tortoises, and different breeds of turtles, in general. Depending upon the species, once again, that you do choose to pick for your pet, pet turtle or pet tortoise, every one has a different cage set up. Every one has a different need as far as heating, lights. Requirements on soil and bedding, anything that you would be putting down in their cage, so once again, we would have to go back to what species you do pick. If it's an aquatic turtle, like a red-eared slider, are very common ones in the pet stores, you would need an aquarium with water, a filtration pump to keep it clean, and you would need some logs so he could climb out on. And then you would feed him either gold fish, earthworms, meal worms, crickets, and also shredded up vegetables on a little plate, up on either the soil, if you have enough room in your tank to put dirt in one corner, they will climb out and eat that."
