"So, you want to make money by buying antiques. I'm Blake Kennedy with Kennedy Brothers Estate Services and I'm here to help. I've been making money with antiques for over twenty years. And it's a lot of fun to do it because you not only get to buy things but you get to sell them. Some of the things that I do is I make sure you get up early in the morning to go to those garage sales. You got to get up early to beat the other dealers there, because it's a big competition trying to get that particular piece. So what I like to do is I would try and get up really really early and find out where they would put the newspapers out so that way you get the newspaper first and you go down and find out all the estates sales and you just make your marks and kind of do it as a, like a map. Say, this is where I'm going first. And you gotta read those descriptions, because you want to make sure you're not wasting your time going to a garage sale or an estate sale that doesn't even mention the word antiques. It might just say, baby clothes or things. But you gotta make sure you look for those key words in the adds. So get up early and get that newspaper. You also want to go to the thrift stores. A lot people go to the thrift stores and make a contact with somebody there, whether it's the manager of the thrift store or somebody that works there. Even give them your cell phone. Say, hey if something comes in you thinks an antique, I'll let you know what it is. But that's a great source to buy because some people just would rather donate it. And also, go to the auctions. A lot of the dealers go to the auctions because estates come in and the stuff gets auctioned off. Thing about the auctions, you don't want to go too high on it because you're looking to try and make a profit on that particular piece. So, you know, know your price point on that and what you think you can sell it for. But don't be afraid to buy it because if you don't buy it, you're not making any money at all. So sometimes if its a better piece that you've never seen before, go up a little bit and make sure you get it. Because, chances are, if you haven't seen it before, neither has anybody else. So, try the auctions, the thrift stores, but get out there and hit those yard sales and estate sales. You can always do well selling money, buying antiques. I'm Blake Kennedy and I hope that helped."
