Three times is a charm. What can I expect on a third date? This is Dr. Paul, author of Boomer Girls, A Boomer Women's Guide to Men and Dating. And host of Ask Dr. Paul. Now I know, what you're thinking. What can I expect on a third date? Don't go there. This may not be where you want to go. There was a book called Great Expectations. Don't have great expectations. That third date can be a very critical date because it is the make or break date. Nobody is going to go for a fourth date if that third date doesn't click. Now this is where the Dannemois, as they say in literature, happens. You were going to be at a point where both of you are going to be evaluating the direction. That third date is the key to the future that you're going to have with this person. And for some reason, we have this magic number on mind. Which is a three. And there in lies the challenge. Either A, as I had a woman call recently saying. You know, the man just didn't have the strength that I wanted. What? What does that mean? I'm not certain but that's what she said. Or B, she just didn't have the depth that I wanted. Maybe she was too shallow for him. But that's where we start making our judgments. And I say, don't make moral judgments for anyone. But this is a point where we feel that we're comfortable with this person. Or not comfortable with this person. If that third date and it doesn't have to be a slam bang affair. It can be a very simple affair. It can be something where you're talking now. And it kind of, saying, o.k. I think, we can go beyond this point. Alright, the third date's a charm. May your fantasies of today be your realities of tomorrow.
