"Joel Hickerson, Grin dog dot com. I'm going to teach you how to draw a monkey swinging. So we'll flesh out a little circle for his belly. Circle for his head, his muzzle, maybe one arm going back. One arm going forward and his other little feet just tucked up under him. Now you want everything to be pointing this direction ok. So his hair maybe flying back, his ear, his eyes are here. I'm going to make him, you want him to be looking at his next object that he is about to grab. And you know swinging through the trees will make him a happy monkey. So you want a smile on his face. Alright so you got this arm which would be in the foreground so draw it first. Coming through maybe it has a grasp on a vine. Going back in this direction. Coming very sharply this way because he has weight on this arm. And then this hand over here reaching for the next vine. Which is just hanging down maybe. Ok so there's our monkey swinging. Now the construction elements you can notice I have a lot of lines here that I'm not going to use. It doesn't matter because when I come back with my marker, I'm going to make the lines that are important darker. And then all these lines will be erased. That's why on the construction lines you don't want to draw very dark. Alright so come back with your marker, draw the lines that matter. Then again don't spend too much time on your details and this monkey you want to be able to draw fast and loose. Cartoons are fun, they don't have to be mired in details. Ok. So there's a vine, you might pick out the leaves up the lines so you know that, that's what it is. Alright the monkey is looking at the next vine. Everything is sweeping back with the motion of what he is doing. Happy monkey cause he is swinging through the trees. A big monkey belly. Maybe a tail even. Also will help give him motion. And he's reaching, a lot of importance in this reach. You want that hand to look like it's about to grasp hold of that next vine. Which is lying here very innocently in wait. Ok. Alright. If you want to do motion lines you can. Alright and then you come back and you erase these lines that you don't really need. And when you are done erasing then look over your drawing and see exactly which lines you need to add to make this finished, more finished as a monkey swinging through your tree. Alright and it's always fun to, to kind of give it a little bit of ground down here. Maybe make it look like it's way up in the air, draw these little bitty trees. And that's how you draw a monkey swinging."
