"Hi, Tim Gipson, and I'm going to talk to you about cleaning clogged water pipes. Now we're at the sink here, and whenever you're dealing with a kitchen sink and you're dealing with clogged water pipes you always to work on the side that does not have the garbage disposal. You don't want to put any harsh chemicals or any of the things that we're going to talk about in this segment through the garbage disposal as that can collect in there. So we'll deal with just the regular drain side. Now there are some commercial products that you can use which are chemical based. So if you have a clog, if you have standing water, something like a gel-based cleaning agent will actually go down there and penetrate. Beyond that there are some natural things that we can do. We can take baking soda and we can actually mix it up with water. Now when we're making this solution, we want to use - we want to put baking soda into a cup, and mix it up where it is a mixture that is just thin enough to pour. You don't want it to be too thin. Okay. So start with some baking soda, add a little bit of water, mix it up, and so it's more like just a pourable paste type of consistency. We want to pour that down the drain. And then once you do that, you want to follow it up with a pot of hot boiling water. You got to make sure that the water is boiling. Now if that does not clear the drain, then what we want to do is we want to get another pot of hot water and we want to put a cup of salt in there and boil it and create like a brine solution. And then we'll pour that down the sink. If you repeat that, you will be able to clear that clog. Then it's very important to finish up by flushing with just hot water out of your faucet for about three to five minutes. So I'm Tim Gipson and that's how to unclog a drain."
