"A big question that we look at each other and talk about is, how do we manage our emotions? They seem so out of control. Sometimes our emotions do get out of control. I'm Virginia Intelisano, Mental Health Professional, Registered Intern with the State of Florida and I'm going to talk to you today about how to manage your emotions. Our emotions are directly related to our thoughts and our behavior. It's natural to feel certain way. It's natural to feel angry, sad, guilty, ashame sometimes. But the biggest thing is to learn how to become aware of it. When you can become aware of what emotion you are feeling, then you'll be able to change your behavior and even change your thoughts. One of the things that you can do when you feel an emotion is to label it. Understand what you're feeling. Take a deep breath, slow down and think. Think about what you want to do, think about what you want to say. Our emotions are not controllable, but our thoughts are and sometimes you can re-frame your thoughts. Think positively instead of negatively and tell yourself a good thing, rather than a bad thing. In this way you can live a stress free life. I'm Virginia Intelisano and if you have any more questions, please do research or contact your local mental health professional. Remember to be safe and be sane, it's imperative."
