"Hi, my name is Jill Weiss, and I'm going to tell you a little bit about how to hit a softball. First thing you want to keep in mind, is keeping your eye on the ball. That's probably the most important thing. Obviously, if you can't see the ball, you're not going to be able to hit it. You want to see the ball all the way in, and actually see it make contact with the bat. Second, is you want to kind of narrow your search, narrow your vision, so when you're looking at a pitcher, instead of visualizing the whole pitcher, because that could actually intimidate an athlete, if the pitcher is really tall, or things like that. Just let them know that, to narrow the search. Look at their release point. In softball, the way that they release, is their release point is right at the hip, so as a hitter, as a batter, you want to make sure that you're comfortable in the box, kind of feet shoulder width apart, kind of loose, relaxed, and when they're ready, step in the box and wait for it. A swinger's hands are faster than they realize. Wait until it gets into that zone, and when they see it, watch the ball make contact with the bat. You've also got to learn all the little mechanics of the swing. Starting your swing with your legs. You get your power from your legs, things like that, finishing your swing. Maybe staying a hitting coach, is that's beneficial for a hitter, if they're wanting to excel, and being one of the top hitters on their team, and things like that, so the main thing that focuses though, is keeping the eye on the ball, and see it make contact with the bat. My name is Jill Weiss, and that's just a few little tips on how to hit a softball."
