"Checking your horse's heart rate is an easy thing to learn and a great tool when monitoring your horse's fitness level. The way that we'll check her heart rate is to first take the stethoscope, place it behind her elbow and you want to make sure you have a watch. We're going to count the amount of heart beats in 15 seconds and then multiply it by 4. Go. There are 10 beats in 15 seconds this means that her resting heart rate is 40."
