"My funny valentine. How do you celebrate a long distance love and how do you celebrate with a long distance lover on Valentines Day? And we've all heard the song, let's talk about it. This Doctor Paul, author of Boomer Girls, a boomer woman's guide to men and dating, and national talk show host. As a relationship consultant I can tell you there's only one way to celebrate Valentines Day in a long distance relationship. You get on a plane and you fly to see your lover and you spend the night with that person, o.k. Now that's number one. If that cannot be done, and I hope it can be, you know, then buying candy is not going to work. You've got to do something that's more intense than that. I mean you want to be with this person more than anything in the world. It's not chocolate, it's not champagne, it's not candlelight, it's that person. You want to be there and the closest way is of course by telephone or by teleconferencing. But it isn't easy. You know, we talk about cybersex and we talk about telephone sex, nothing makes up for being together at oneness. So I'll go with plan A, fly there, meet them, spend Valentines Day, get engaged, whatever you think you may want to do. That not being the case, spend hours and I mean hours on the phone with this person pledging your sincerity, your honesty, your fidelity and that should help make that long distance lover closer to you. This is Doctor Paul, may your fantasies of today be your realities of tomorrow."
