"Hi, this is Liz Muller from Liz's Hair Design in Hollywood, Florida. In this clip I'm going to show you how to dye roots. Now, you have different shades that you want to use - fine. But how do you get those roots dyed? You want to go ahead and just basically do the roots. Don't do all over your hair, and I'm going to show you on my hair what roots mean, because I have a little bit of roots and new growth in the hair. So, what we're going to go ahead and do is divide the hair and you see that line where the hair is actually darker than over here where the color is? You're going to go ahead and dye that. Formulate a color that the client will like or desire, and then you go ahead and place it on the root only. When you're going over the root, you're overlapping, you don't want to do the rest of the hair so roots mean roots only. It could be half an inch, it could be a quarter, it could be more than that. And try not to go ahead and touch the scalp, if the roots are down to here, then you just want to do that shaft right there and then try not to touch the scalp, okay, because then you get the dye you know, it gets really messed up on the scalp, okay so you don't need to do that. Just do the roots itself, which just mean roots."
