"Can eucalyptus be used to fight fleas? It helps. Eucalyptus is a powerful plants that has lots of medicinal properties. And fleas can't stand the smell or the taste of it, so it can be used to help keep fleas away. The rub is it can also be highly irritating and painful to be placed directly on the skin, so, you never want to use eucalyptus oil straight. What you can do is you can take a spray bottle and you can add about ten or so... seven, eight, nine, ten, and then you can use that once you've mixed it up nice and good and you can spray furniture, bedding, even - you can even spray lightly your dog or cat, making sure never to get it on the animal's faces or eyes or any sensitive areas. And that can definitely help keep fleas away. Is it going to be one hundred percent proof? Probably not, but it can be a helpful preventative. You can also take fresh eucalyptus leaves and you can place those under carpets or rugs, underneath furniture, things like that, to help repel and keep away fleas. Again I have to stress when you're using any kind of homemade anything to be very, very careful when you're making it, and to be very careful when using it on an animal. You never know what's going to happen, and always err on the side of caution and I always do press that you try a commercial preventative first because these sorts of things can have unknown effects on animals."
