"How to choose flea repellent. Well there are lots of different flea repellents on the market today, everything from your flea collars to your flea powders to your topical ointments like the ones that you put on in between the shoulder blades. Really the best ones are going to be those ones, the topical ointments. They work by far the best out of all the other ones. They are dog or cats specific and they are weight specific, that's true for any of these brands. And what happens is that medications gets transferred throughout the body of the animal by it's various gland systems and basically kills off the fleas. Basically what you are looking for in a flea preventative is an adulticide which is basically a pesticide that kills adults and looking for an insect growth regulator. And this is going to be a chemical that is going to regulate the growth of the insect and control it going from it's larvae to pupal forms. Those are your two main sources of combat. There are of course also powders that you can use and most powders are pretty interchangeable. There are flea bombs that you can use in the house and your flea aerosol sprays. The aerosol sprays being the preferred method of house treatment, much, much better then the bombs which are inaccurate and don't really get the desired areas and nooks and crannies all covered."
