Series Summary

Pest control refers to the regulation or management of a species defined as a pest, usually because it is perceived to be a threat to a person's health, the ecology or the economy. Chemical pesticides date back 4,500 years, and chemical pest control is still the predominant type of pest control today. While chemical pesticides may kill insects effectively, some may also be toxic to human beings and lead to severe environmental degradation if their use is not properly managed. By comparison, natural pesticides, which are usually eco-friendly, are more conducive to environmental sustainability and more beneficial to public wellness. In this free video series, a pet industry specialist provides advice for eliminating fleas, curing flea bites and organic flea control. Discover how to make flea powder, how to kill fleas and how to get rid of fleas without chemicals. Learn about making homemade dog shampoo to kill fleas, getting rid of fleas naturally and making homemade flea repellent. Take control of a flea infestation with these household tips!

"Can you vacuum up fleas? Well, you can, from carpeting. You can't vacuum off an animal, but if you do have a flea infestation, vacuuming does help. In fact, it's good to vacuum before you treat your carpet or couches or anything like that with an insecticide. What it will do is it will help suck up eggs and larvae and pupa and it will also because of the movement and the heat of the vacuum, will actually encourage pre-adult fleas to emerge from their insecticide resistant cocoons and will therefore make them more susceptible to insecticides, so your treatments will actually be more efficient and work better. So always make sure you vacuum before you treat your carpet or you treat your furniture, be it a couch, and make sure you vacuum it thoroughly, and get all the nooks and crannies, and all the little spots, don't make sure you miss anything, it will definitely help you take care of your flea problem."
