"The neo-baroque style City Hall in Szeged is one of the more ecclectic palaces within the Szechenyi Square. It's foundation stone was laid down in 1799, designed and built by Istvan Vedres and Janos Schwortz. And in 1883, it was redone following a flood damage on the original foundation. The town hall was turned into a totally different creation, it became a new-one story building designed by Odon Lechner and Gyola Partos. The yellow painted town hall is topped with the central tower. The founder of Hungarian art noveau, used neo-baroque forms featuring a two-dimensional rather than three dimensional conception of the building. He initially introduced a new architectural style. The City Hall is connected with the " Bridge of Sighs" to next door's council house."
