"Hello welcome everybody I'm Lars Erik Robinson, my company is Lars Arts all around art-tainment. I'm a freelance illustrator, been in the business fifteen years now. And we are going to talk about how to use black scratch board it's called. And I started this one here a while ago that the client stopped actually , he decided not to do it after all and I started it but he still paid me so. I felt I should demonstrate to you how we do it. And I have, for example I have a piece here that I did and this is done on actually white scratch board. They have two different kinds, they have black ones that are all black and they have white ones. In this you can actually use your black and white ink if you know it's going to be really dark there. And you could put your ink by brushing it on. And if you come back over here I could show you how we actually scratch it off. So for example here I'm starting to create the highlight where the light is hitting it. And you do strokes going with how the form is. And then if you want to get a cross hatching thing going which I started over here, you can see on the Amiga it kind of creates a gray effect. Then you go against it again, more tighter spaces and then further away as you get, that creates a shadow effect to it. It's really fun, it's actually working in reverse from doing regular sketches. So once again here's the top of this shoe, they have different tools for them. I'm using an Exact-o here, but they have ones that bend more to that would give it more of a variety of line. So it's really interesting, it takes a while. It's a little bit of a longer process but I actually did create something like similar to this but I did it for a client that wanted to have a fax paper that he used for his business cards because every time you fax something if you have a photograph it doesn't show up right. And that is why I think it originally started and it's also very good for printing in newspapers and stuff like that. Alright thank you guys for joining me today. Have a good day."
