"Hi, I'm Ann Myrick, and today we're going to talk about how to choose room colors to create a sense of space. Really, I think there's two main things to think about; to create space as far as to make your smaller space bigger, to make a large space cozier, that is one way to look at it. And another way to look at it would be there are so many homes now that have a very open floor plan, but they're still, I am a decorator and I work with clients all the time that have the, they don't have a lot of walls in their house, but they still want to create a sense of space for that room. So, one way, one way we'll, we will do that is through if you have a small house or a house that has a lot of rooms, such as this one. This is an older plan that has a lot of small rooms, so what I, I usually, I love color in every room, and identify each room by color, but in a small house like this with a lot of smaller rooms, if you paint every room a different color, the room is going to be real choppy. Every time there's a color change, there's a, like your eye changes, and so instead of walking in and having just a consistent color, if you walk in to a very, a small house with a lot of small rooms, every time there's a color change, you just, you feel very chopped up. So what I would do in that type of situation is do one whole color through the house, where it's consistent and it gives you a good flow. Another thing you think about is if you don't have a lot of walls, what you would do is you could go in and, let's say you paint your dining room a great plum or purple, and it designates that room, and then the kitchen is a, a different color. So instead of having walls, you designate the type of room it is by the color. This is Ann Myrick, and that is how to choose room colors to create a sense of space."
