"We all want to do a great job we all want to be good bosses. But there are some techniques that you have to master. My name is Gloria Campbell and I'm President and CEO of Advances Training Systems in St. Petersburg, Florida. Being a great boss requires that you have to say no. You're probably surprise with that. But one of the things that I have experienced is that most bosses don't know how to say no to individuals. No to time off, no to people who are not doing their job and other people are picking up the slack. No to them not doing their job and other people are having to do their work. Good bosses know that a team that works together, that everybody's pulling their own weight. As a boss, you have to be a motivator, you have to be able to influence people's behavior, you have to be a team-builder. Now one of the best ways to be a great team builder as a boss is to know what the job is and what require it to hire people who have the skills that you need or that you lack, so that the team grows stronger and stronger. Reward people that are doing a great job and make sure that people who that aren't, that they also know it.
