"My name is Christine Marquette and I'm a registered dietitian with the Austin Regional Clinic and I'm going to talk to you about how to eat healthy at Cold Stone Creamery. Now this is a little bit of a challenge because it is a desert restaurant and primarily it is ice cream but they have made an effort to include some choices that don't have a lot of saturated fat. They are still going to have a lot of calories but again they are still low in fat. These choices are their fruit based options. They have a lot of sorbets that are very tasty but because they don't have any milk or cream in them, they don't have saturated fats so the sorbets are a really good option. Their fruit smoothies are another good option. If you want a topping they have some fat free toppings as well as fat free fudge, caramel or butterscotch so those are some things you can include. Remember again though that this is a desert type place so it is meant to be used as a treat, it is not something that you want to make a habit of going to all the time but an occasional sorbet or fruit smoothie is perfectly fine but again when you are really concerned about your health make sure that you are choosing those fruit options over their full fat ice cream options. So those are just a few tips to keep in mind when trying to eat healthy at Cold Stone Creamery."
