Computers are complex machines built upon very simple principles. They perform arithmetical operations millions of times over to transform digital information moving at lightning speed into usable human data. Nevertheless, these fundamental functions mimic human ability in some surprising ways. Therefore, the computer is increasingly becoming an engine of the imagination, a platform for the digital life. In this free video on computer hardware and maintenance, a systems management expert and computer technician demonstrates basic date security tasks such as backing up a hard drive and setting up a secure network connection. Also learn how to reinstall the Windows operating system, limit access to a wireless network, set up dual monitors, adjust the resolution of monitors and troubleshoot a crashing computer. And find out how to format a flash drive and even a floppy disk.
"Hi. I'm Chris Bryce with superservice.com. I want to talk to you about how to uninstall a Windows program safely. Now the safest way to uninstall a Windows program is to use the uninstallation software provided by Windows. Now to access this software you need to go to the control panel. After pulling up the control panel you'll need to go to add/remove programs if you're using Windows XP, or if you're using Windows Vista you'll want to go to the link that says uninstall a program. Either of these links will pull up a list of the programs that are on your computer. On Windows XP if you select the item in the list just to the right of the item will be a button that says remove. You'll click that item and the remove button next to it. In Windows Vista you'll select the item and then at the top of the dialog box will be a button that says uninstall. You'll click that button and it'll take you through the uninstallation process. Follow the uninstallation process and the program will be safely uninstalled. That's the way to uninstall a Windows program safely."
