"Hi my name is Pat Goodwin with patgoodwinassociates.com. Today we are going to talk about writing objects for a resume. I must ask what is your objective for writing an objective. It can be two words underneath your objective. Once you write your resume you are going to have at the top of the page your name, I would encourage you to put it centered, maybe ten or eleven points, bold and in all caps, your contact information, a line and then the word objective. So the objective on the resume is what you are seeking. It could be two words like sales manager. It could be teacher. It could be specific to the type of field that you are teaching in. It could be the type of doctor or teacher that you want to be like second grade specialty teacher, secondary education. the word objective is in some cases frowned upon because they don't know what you mean by that and there are times that people will write an objective that is too long. It could say words that are not important so if you are going to have an objective make sure it is focused, that it is real clear. It could be the word objective which would be centered and all bold underneath your name. It would be seeking an opportunity as a secondary teacher specializing in mathematics. Now that is one sentence statement that is very clear and that is your objective. If you are looking for a job in the retail field it could be seeking a position in retail utilizing my strong customer service abilities or my strong customer service skills. So it not only says what you want but it talks about how you view customer service. If you are looking for a position in the library and you are a librarian you might say objective seeking a librarian position or a position in the library utilizing my strong research and organizational skills. So not just having two words like sales manager if you want to put the word librarian or seeking the position as a sales manager with a strong track record of managing sales professionals mentoring, training, assuring total success then that says a little bit about the job that you are looking for as well as the type of person you are. So that would be my suggestion of applying for a job and using an objective with some scenarios and small statements about how you can write a positive successful objective."
