"You've learned that you're getting divorced. Hi I'm Robert Todd, and I'm here to help you answer the question, how do I protect myself in a divorce. Well first of all whether you agree with the divorce or not, in all fifty states there is no fault divorce. So you really can't stop the divorce. So what can you do? Basically talk with your spouse, if you're talking, see if you can agree upon how you're going to distribute and divide the assets. How you're going to divide the liabilities, the credit cards. What you're going to do with your children, who is going to have primary custody with them, what the other parent is going to have with respect to visitation. Whether there's going to be child support paid by one parent to the other, whether there's going to be any type of spousal support paid by one parent to the other. And these are the types of things that you need to be considering. I'm Robert Todd, and thank you for watching."
