Video Transcript

"J & M Aviaries is located just outside of Austin on the way to the hill country. The facility covers three acres of prime Texas land and surrounded by native Texas oak trees. The owners have been working with exotic birds for over forty years. They started breeding the birds for purchase in 1990. There are eighty nine different species of birds living here and the goal of breeding them is simple, "to bring them back from the brink of extinction". Many of these species are on the endangered species list and their numbers have been decreasing. J & M Aviaries is working to repopulate these species so they maybe removed from the endangered species list. If you decide to buy any exotic bird here be prepared for the long, but necessary screening process. The staff is dedicated to making sure the birds go to good homes. It's been a great deal of time helping customers decide which bird is best for their family. J & M also accepts abandoned and neglected birds as part of their Austin Aviation and Rescue Rehabilitation Program. Boarding and grooming services are also offered. You can bet that's a noisy job. In addition to breeding, sales and bird supplies, J & M offers tours for visitors in schools. It's amazing to see the many species of birds here. It really gives you a sense of the exotic beauty of nature"
