"Hello my name is Penny Smith and I am a North Carolina real estate broker. Today I would like to talk to you about signing a lease for an apartment. I want you to understand what the word lease means. A lease is a contractual agreement that is legal and binding for both you as well as the landlord. It is an agreement of things that you are required to do and things that you cannot do as well as things that the landlord is required to do and things that landlord cannot do. So be sure to read your lease before you sign it. All leases are negotiable. Everything is and if there is something in there that you don't understand you need to question it and if you don't like it you need to renegotiate it. These are my recommendations before you sign the lease. Thank you and I hope you have a good day."
