"Hello my name is Penny Smith and I'm a North Carolina real estate broker. Today I'd like to talk to you about how to obtain building permits. You have the perfect lot, you've got the construction loan in place and you've picked out your builder. Your builder will know how to obtain all of your building permits. Especially if he is a licensed general contractor. Basically though you have to submit a set of plans that you are going to build on. Those plans have to be approved and those plans have to be submitted to the building permit in your county in which you are planning to build in. If you do have happen to live in an area or a neighborhood that has required stipulations for what you can and can't build, then you will have to also go through their committee. It's a building architectural committee in that neighborhood and get the permission from them first. And their stamp of approval before you can obtain your building permits.
