"Hello, my name is Penny Smith and I'm a North Caroline real estate broker. Today I'd like to talk to you about, how to find out if a house in my neighborhood has been foreclosed. Well, the only way to be able to do that is to search a deed. Deeds are public records through the courthouse, you can look up any bodies deed that you want, you just have to know the website to that courthouse and for the deed of records. Then you go through and you can put in the search by address or search by owners name, and then you can take a look at the deed and actually read it. It will certainly tell you if that house has been foreclosed on, because the deed will change from a general warranty deed to a quick claim deed, and then the home will also say foreclosed on such and such of date in that deed, if it's a quick claim deed. And that is how I recommend that you go and take a look on your County Court House deeds of records, it is public information if you want to know if a particular house has ever been foreclosed on. Thank you, and I hope you have a good day."
