How to Find Subsidized Housing

"Hello, my name is Penny Smith, and I'm a North Carolina real estate broker. The topic for today that we're going to discuss is how to find subsidized housing. Subsidized housing is housing that the government will pay for someone to rent, such as HUD and so forth. Those houses can be in almost any neighborhood. You won't find them in your bigger, more expensive neighborhoods, but you will find them in your older, smaller-homed neighborhoods. You can go to a website and you could look up neighborhoods that offer HUD housing through the federal government website or your local government website. That would be my first recommendation. The houses that are renting through subsidized housing do have a meet a certain criteria and inspection, and that inspection is done every once a year annually. So you have to keep in mind that if you plan to own one of those homes, that you will have to maintain that home and it will be inspected once a year. If you're looking to find that home, there...you will have to go through paperwork and application to find that home and those government agencies will certainly give you a list of homes that qualify for subsidized housing.
