"Hi, my name is Lauren and today I'm discuss reversing a perm. There are times where we go and get too many chemical services or just get a perm that is a little bit too tight for our liking, and not really what we envisioned in the beginning. I'm going to show you a few quick ways to actually reverse the perm. One way is to shampoo immediately. Usually when leaving a stylist, they tell you not to shampoo for two...at least two days. What that does is it allows time for that curl to settle, and it allows time for it to really set into position. If you are not liking the curl that you have, if you shampoo immediately, it will help loosen that curl and release it some. That way, if the curl is too tight, it can actually help adjust it and maybe loosen it up enough where it won't be as tight and you may think...be a little bit more fond of it. Another good way to reverse a perm is to use coconut oil. If you can just heat it up, just to that warm temperature, and apply it to your hair shaft and leave it on for two or more hours. The coconut oil will nourish your hair, plus kind of weigh your hair down a little bit and relax that curl. It's a good way to kind of get the nourishment back in, the smoothness back in to your hair, plus also help weigh the curl down. If you do shampoo, and if you do use the coconut oil and your perm is still not to your liking, a good way to just kind of manage your curl is to use either curling creams, or maybe even the straightening iron or the curling iron in order to give it that little excess heat and just kind of manage the curl, and just help it be a bit of a softer style, something that's a little bit smoother and more towards your liking. And that is how to reverse a perm."
