"Hi, my name is Lauren and today I'm going to discuss how to style hair with box braids. Box braids get their name because they are actually segmented into little boxes. You are going to start by pulling your hair back and depending on how big of a box you would like your braid to start in, is how you would do it. So I'm going to do for all intents purposes of showing you, larger boxes so that way you can see what the setup of it actually will be. Now you can scatter these boxes in order to avoid any direct part. And this will be the beginning of what your boxes are going to look like. Once you start sectioning your hair into boxes, you're going to begin the braid. The way you're going to start your box braid is you are going to take their front section and you are going to split it into three sections. You are going to go underneath and start braiding an underneath. So you are going to take your middle section, your right section and put it beneath your middle section and pull it down. Then you take your left section and put it beneath that new middle. Box braids begin almost as if a cornrow would. So you're going to add the remainder of the hair that is in the box into your braid. Once you have finished with the box, you are simply just going to braid your hair all the way down to the bottom. If you are adding pieces into your hair of synthetic hair, you can, if the synthetic hair is making your hair longer, your braid will be ending with the synthetic hair and you can actually singe the bottom of your braid with a lighter in order to close it off. If it is your natural hair, I don't suggest doing that. You can use a rubber band in order to seal it off and then that way it can just kind of hang. And that is how you would get a box braid."
