Watch their stand up performances, read interviews with them, really get to know a little more about their lives and also really study their style and what kind of jokes that they tend to tell, what their approach to comedy is. Then to actually begin to make connections in the field of comedy, going to live performances, going to shows or clubs where comedians are performing is really the best way to do it. And this is the best way to try and find a comedian who might want to hire you to do that kind of comedy writing. You can also do your own stand up. That's a really good way to showcase your writing as a comedian is to do your own stand up routine at an open mike night or another venue where people are allowed to perform. If you're not interested in becoming a comedian but want to do writing that can still be a good way to just have some, some recorded evidence of what your writing style is.
