"Hi I'm Laura from youngwritersworkshops.com and I'm going to talk about how much you will make publishing your novel. This question really depends on where you publish the novel and how you choose to go about publishing it. If you choose to self publish your novel that amount can be pretty easily determined by how many you sell. For example you pay a certain amount to publish a number of copies of your book and depending on how many you sell that's how much you make once you've recouped what you spent on the investment. If you choose to publish your book with a publisher a typical royalty is anywhere from 5 to 10 percent. A little bit higher percent if it's with a larger publishing house. Now some writers get an advance which is an advance against royalties. But again it's going to come down to you getting 7 to 10 percent of whatever comes in from the wholesale marketing of your book. An important thing to keep in mind is that publishing is really competitive and part of the reason for the competition is often publishers don't make a their own investment back on a book. So just keep in mind that getting rich by selling a novel, publishing a novel is probably not likely in a short term. It might be something that you need to work towards over many years. So those are just a few things to keep in mind about how much you will make publishing a novel."

on 7/19/2009 I really don't know that there is clear answer to this question. In my opinion it depends 100% on the methods that you (or your publisher) use in the six months before and after releasing the book. http://www.howtosellmybooks.com
