"Hi, I'm Laura from youngwritersworkshops.com and I'm going to talk about how to write a book report. A book report is a basic standby assignment, almost everyone will have to write many book reports in their school career. I think an important way to approach it is to think about what someone would want to know about this book, and that doesn't always mean writing a summary although often a teacher will ask for a summary of the book in a book report. Follow that guideline but also try and think of ways to bring in a little bit of information that might make the book more interesting or lively to the reader of your book report. Now, some ways to think about doing that is to try to think what was the author trying to communicate? Or, for a fiction book think about the lesson that the character learned, what that could be to pass on to future readers. Often times a teacher will ask you to write both a summary and a conclusion about what you've learned from the book. You'll always include the author, the title, publishing information, and any other specifics that the teacher asks for in the book report. Re-read your book report, edit it for punctuation, spelling, and other mechanics issues, and be sure to turn in a clean copy with your edits. So a little bit more about how to write a book report. Start with a summary or something that you want somebody to learn about the book. Include a well written edited version of your summary, and turn it in."
