"Hi. I'm Laura from youngwritersworkshops.com and I'm going to talk about how to write a diary. I first wanted to explain the difference between a journal and a diary. A diary is more specifically a description of the day's event. It might be made daily, it might be an entry that you make daily or it could be more sporadic. But it's more defined as a description of that specific day. So, in writing a diary entry, you may choose to list the things that have happened during the day. You might write about one specific thing that happened today. You can start your diary in the form of a letter, like Dear Diary, today was the day that I learned to write a bike. Or you can make it a little bit more general, like include the day's date and then list a few things that happened or write one thing that happened. When you're writing a diary, bear in mind that this might be something that you go back to later, for example, if you're writing your memoirs or to use as a record of something you can pass on to your children and grandchildren. So try and think of things that are going to be memorable, although it may be small things. The memories are in the small things as well. There's really no right or wrong thing to write in your diary, but those are a few things to remember that a diary is a record of daily events."
