""Chin up a little, there that's good. Good". This is Mark Bowers from bowersphotography.com from Utah and we're lighting for fashion. The main thing, the biggest thing that you have to remember about fashion is makeup. You've got to have a good makeup artist because the makeup artist is what creates the contour and the three dimensionality of your face. They do the eyes, they do the cheeks, they do the lips, they do the contours on the cheeks and the hair; and without a really good makeup artist, you're not going to get a really, you're not going to get a great fashion shot. Lighting for fashion basically is very soft lights. Unless it's something very unusual, most lighting for fashion has a big soft box or a big giant umbrella; very very soft light and it's very frontal. And so, the thing that's creating the three dimensionality like I mentioned before is going to be the makeup. And you've got to have shadow on the makeup on the back, you've to have the highlights on the front. A good makeup artist will know that. The fashion lights, they have to be, usually flash because the, you're moving a lot, you're doing a lot of different kinds of, kinds of things, you need a little bit of space. General fashion is done on a light background because you're showing off the clothing. You're trying to sell something to a client. You're not selling a face to a portrait person. It's a little bit different mentality when you're doing fashion."
