"This is Mark Bowers from Markbowersphotography.com in Utah. And this segment is talking about a home photography studio. Something you can do at home. I have many friends that do have home photography studios. I have a storefront studio. The things that they've done and the things that they've run into. First of all you have to get a name. And you have to register it with your state. I probably recommend talking with someone who's got good legal advice, a lawyer. Because there are going to be issues you need to go through. You've got some tax issues you need to work out. You also have zoning issues you need to work out with your local city. When you register your name you usually have to register with the state. You also have to talk to your accountant so that you know what type of business you are going to start with. As a professional, I went to my family and talked to my family about what studio I was going to build. And for me a storefront studio made more sense for me. But the home studio makes sense for a lot of people who need to sense a lot of time at home. It does take a lot of time. One of the problems of a home based business; you're not taken as seriously. You're not as well known, and people think you're not as reputable. It's kind of an up hill, it's up hill work to convince people that you're the one that, that they want to pay to do your photography. And so that's one of things that you have to work at with a home based business. There are many people who've done really well in home based businesses, but they've addressed that issue very well."
