"Did you ever open a bottle of wine and then completely at a loss about which kind of glass it should go in. My name is Micah and I'm going to talk to you about using the proper wine glass for the proper wine. Up here I have three basic wine glasses, usable for various things. To start with lets talk about sparkling wines. Champagne, sect any sparkling white wine you have should always, I repeat, always be served in a flute. There's no way no how I want you to ever be putting champagne into either of these wine glasses or simple kitchen glass. It's inelegant and it doesn't do the drink justice. These two are a little trickier. With red wine it's important to decant the wine, that's to aerate it, release the flavor, release the aroma. There's often several hints of different fruits, vanillas, spices, several different things that go into a wine. It's called it's nose. Now this glass right here is prime for red wine. If you've noticed the larger bowl compared to the two. This area right here gives you the space to swirl. You have the liquid at the bottom, you want to swirl your wine, to again give it some air and decant it. So this is really good for reds. And also you can warm up the wine a bit as well. This is better for whites. Now classically for a white wine glass you want it to be even a little smaller and thinner. However, this works just fine as well. Whites don't need the same kind of aeration process that reds do. Therefore a smaller glass with less bowl will suffice. My name is Micah and this has been wine glasses."
