Series Summary

What is the definition of tutoring? Tutoring is filling in holes in another person's knowledge, in the painting that they have drawn themselves. A tutor describes a certain concept and fills in the holes that do not quite make sense to the student. Tutoring is an enjoyable pastime, something one can do on one's own time, get paid well for and enjoy while exercising one's brain. It is also a good way to work on interpersonal communication skills, because a tutor is responsible for all of the communication that is going on with the student. In this free video series on education, a professional tutor draws from his wealth of personal experience in order to answer many questions about tutoring. Get tips on starting a tutoring business, finding clients, establishing good relationships with parents and students and figure out how much to charge. Learn what it takes to become a successful tutor, the benefits of tutoring, what tutoring is and how to mentor students. Find out how to tutor subjects like Spanish, algebra and biology.

Video Transcript

"What is advanced math tutoring? Advanced math tutoring is tutoring that, is after, algebra two which is usually you take in high school, and, before calculus which is something you usually take in college so or anything that can go along it can kind of branch out at that point, so it's the stuff like statistics, or trigonometry, precalc, they'll usually come combined. That is when you start getting into, the ultimate coordinate system not the x y z coordinates but the orthogonal coordinates, which are theta and, a few others, I'll get those later, but let's see then statistics is just stuff like how many times will you get a one when you roll a dice out of thirty-six times that you rolled the dice stuff like that. So that's math that's advanced math tutoring."
