"Hi, I'm Sundae with Natural Sundae and I'm going to give you some tips on being a successful massage therapist. Now the first things you want to do is you always want to challenge yourself, you want to become very valuable to your clients and the industry and you want to learn as much as you can. If there is a skill you feel that you are lacking, go learn it. It's just that simple, and I always feel like a massage therapist or any kind of a therapist that's sort of just staying the same and doesn't really care about their education, it's kind of just a waist of time so always challenge yourself and be the best therapist that you can be. Your clients will really appreciate it. The second things that is very very important is to have reference material available. I am a great massage therapist but I don't know everything that's for sure, and there have been a couple times where people have come in to me and I am not familiar with their specific medication or condition, and I got to go look it up honestly and that's what you are supposed to do, you just have to make sure you make those reference materials available to yourself, those are the resources you are supposed to use and there are many out there, you can find a reference guide for pathology which is disease, and pharmacology for massage therapists which deals with medication. Now the third thing that's very very important, that apply to myself is listening to your client. Listening with your ears as far as what they say to you about their medications and surgeries and their conditions and symptoms, but also listening with your eyes, and sometimes clients come in and they forget to tell you everything that is wrong with them well if you see somebody that is walking in hunched over like this and they don't even mention anything about their shoulders and neck you can visually see their body language. Listen with your eyes, listen to what is going on. An that's obviously that's an area that they need help with so make sure that you are aware of that. Also listen with your hands and that's what we do as massage therapists we listen with our hands, make sure that you feel what your client if there client is not relaxed then you need to relax them before you get deeper so listen with your hands and make sure that they are ready for you and that they are ready to accept your touch. And then also listen with your heart and I know that sounds corny, but most massage therapists are massage therapists because of the fact that they do listen to their heart and they listen with intuition, and a lot of times that is what guides a therapist through a healing session with someone, so listen with your ears listen with your eyes, listen with your hands and listen with your heart. Number four is to be comfortable and calm because if you are not your client is not going to be either, and then the fifth thing to remember is to always document your sessions document what, of course who, where when why and how and list everything that you did so that you know the next time they come in how it worked for them. I hoped this helped, I'm Sundae with Natural Sundae."
