"Hi, I'm Amelia, and I'm going to show you how to use hair pins. This is a hair pin. It's actually probably one of the best things to use with an updo. I feel like that it's the easiest to hide, and it's also holds the most hair. So whenever you are actually putting hair into an updo -- let's say you're wanting to find a place for this piece to go -- I always like to twist the hair a little bit. It gives a little bit more surface for the pin to hold. And then you just grab it, move it back, and twist it in. You always want to also just tighten up the end of the hair pin because, a lot of times, they come out really wide like this, so you want to just tighten them up a little bit so they give a little bit more hold. You just squish the ends. And so you can see the difference. This one's just a touch narrower than this one -- not much. If you have a large amount of hair that you're trying to put up, you just grab it and just randomly put hair pins in until you feel like you've got a good amount of hold there. But really, the technique with the hair pin is you're putting that hair pin in this way -- in at one angle, and then twisting it and putting it down in the other angle. And what that's doing is it's actually grabbing hair and pulling it down into the hairstyle. So you're putting it up, and then down. Again, you're just putting that hair pin in up and then twisting it down. And as you can see, you can't see the hair pins, whereas a bobby pin, you can easily see. So if you're trying to hide pins, I recommend a hair pin, whereas a bobby pin -- and I'll just show you this real quick -- a bobby pin, if I'm just trying to put it in. So you can see where the bobby pin is. I've got two hair pins there, a hair pin here, some hair pins over here. And that's how to use hair pins."
