"Hi this is Laura Turner and today I'm going to talk with you about how to teach your children the meaning of Hanukkah. First of all of course you want to teach your children about the story of Hanukkah and the story behind why you light the Menorah for the eight nights of Hanukkah. So you are going to of course know that story yourself that the temple in Jerusalem was sacked and the oil for the lamp was lost and that the remaining oil was only enough for one day, but miraculously lasted for eight. So you can sort of illustrate to your kids in a very easy way by telling the story of Hanukkah and then connecting of course with your Menorah that you are going to be lighting each night. And of course you are going to light the Menorah with the ninth candle each, or successive candle. Also a very good way for kids to learn about the miracle of Hanukkah is to play the dreidel game. The letters of the dreidel shin, hey, gibble and nun and they can actually play this game and the letters translate to mean a great miracle happened there. So that your kids will sort of unknowingly in some ways be playing this little game in honor of what actually happened. Next of course you can make a Hanukkah box for your kids and actually give them a little gift every night of Hanukkah so that it translates into a miracle you know for them that something nice happens every night of Hanukkah. So that it's not just you are telling the story, you are lighting the candle, it's you are telling the story, you are lighting the candle and you are giving them something that represents something miraculous. At least you know to the kids. So those are just some ideas for how to teach your children about the meaning of Hanukkah."
